Let me start this off by saying I truly do not understand how my tiny 6lb 12oz baby boy is one already. This has 100% been the fastest, but sweetest year of our lives!
I’ve known for a long time exactly what Brant’s first birthday party theme would be– snips, snails, & puppy dog tails. that’s what little boys are made of! Such a sweet and classic theme full of puppies and blue and white gingham! I wish I knew how to figure out when I first created the Pinterest board, because I’m pretty sure he was still a newborn when the ideas started flowing! Based on my Pinterest plans, I started rounding up supplies from SHEIN, Amazon, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, & a few local shops! the following contains affiliate links that I may make a small commission from.
the cake
Talk about beautiful AND delicious!! Oh, my word!! SaraKathryn Creech with 571 Bakes absolutely killed my vision with this cake. The top tier was lemon blueberry & bottom tier was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting… cue the drool!! You can contact her via Facebook to book her for your event!
the smash cake
I don’t think y’all are going to believe this… PUBLIX for less than $15!! How about that?! I didn’t want to spend a lot on this, knowing he would not eat much of it. Just call the Publix bakery & ask for a naked smash cake. I did vanilla cake with buttercream icing! Perfect size, super cute, & so cost efficient!
the sign
I sent a picture of our invitation over to Hannah Wood & Co & gave her free creative range! It was so simple & loved the look behind the cakes. It made the perfect backdrop. She also does balloon arches!
birthday plate
I found Weeks Studio in a big Facebook group before finding out she is actually local to me! She hand painted this precious plate, which is a perfect keepsake! Growing up, my mom would make special birthday pancakes for us every year. I plan on starting the same tradition with B & using this plate every year!
monthly milestone cards
Right after Brant was born, I knew I wanted some timeless monthly milestone cards. I found these absolutely precious printed cards on Etsy & ordered immediately. No printing required! For the party, I used the monthly card with the picture we took that month as a banner. It was so bittersweet seeing my baby grow up right before my eyes.
party favors
This was something I was most excited about making and having! I found these “dog houses” on amazon & just needed to cut the front door out. Before assembling the “houses”, I put a piece of cardboard between the layers and then I used an x-acto knife (hob lob) to cut the door shape. The super cute puppies came from Oriental Trading & were the perfect size! I used Canva to make the “Adopt a Puppy” sign & the thank you cards on the sides of each box. This gave it the perfect personalized touch!

table decor
We found the perfect bolt of blue & white checked fabric at hobby lobby. I simply cut it into about 12″ wide strips & the length needed for the table size! For our centerpieces, my mom arranged these super cute dog bone treats with hydrangeas and baby’s breath with pictures from his first year of life. I was obsessed!
high chair decor & cake toppers
So sorry, friends, but this one I don’t have links for! My sweet aunt handmade the party hat for Brant’s first birthday photoshoot and I knew I wanted to have it on display for his party… we tried to get him to wear it for the party and that was an absolute no. I bought the one banner & cake toppers second-hand actually! But I’m sure if you have a local person who does embroidery that you could just show them the picture!
kids table
Our venue had a set of lunchroom tables, so I wanted to set up a little station for the kids to sit, eat, take a break, whatever. I grabbed some white butcher paper for kids to draw on and spread out some crayons & colored pencils (literally from my garage from my classroom days lol). The little party hats were given to me but DIYed out of scrapbook paper! They would be so easy to make!! My vision also included lots of blue balloons down the center, but ran out of helium and time.
One thing about us, we LOVE books around here! Brant got some of the following books for his first birthday & I know we will pull them out every year! Some of these feature some of my favorite characters from my childhood, which makes them even more special. I loved using some for party decor, too.
Inflate Wiregrass was AMAZING to book and work with for this aesthetically pleasing bouncy house (if ya know what I mean.. can’t be havin’ a tacky bright colored inflatable that doesn’t match my party LOL). I contacted them via email & had it booked in a jiffy. I got to pick the perfect colors to coordinate with our theme. They arrived the morning of our party, fully assembled, & took down the bouncy house. Kids of all ages LOVED jumping, sliding, and playing in the ball pit.
balloons- SHEIN
Balloon arches are SO expensive, so it is something we always try to DIY! I grabbed a few different packs of balloons from SHEIN to create two arches (we watched a few reels on assembling arches without the strip that you get from amazon). I also grabbed the “happy birthday”, “1”, and 6 dog bone balloons (as seen at the kids table). I would ~not~ recommend the dog bone balloons, they kept exploding when trying to blow them up… so that was a waste!

This party was something I planned for such a long time. Being able to celebrate our miracle boy surrounded by so many people who love him brought tears to my eyes the entire day. Brant is truly the joy of our lives & I pray he always shines with the love of Jesus. Happy birthday, baby boy! 💙
